My Broken Toe and a New Haircut!

Soooo I broke my toe last Monday! How you may ask? Welllll, we have a really, really, really, really old Jack Russell Terrier named Sid, I mean he is probably ancient in human years and dog years. We estimate at least 15 because he was a stray and we don't know for sure his age. My husband and I found him, or should I say, he found us, when we first started dating and we have been together for 13 years. He knocked on my husband's apartment door looking for a home. So he gave him one!:)
Anyhoo, back to the toe! So he is really old and can't see or hear very well at all anymore! If you walk too close to him, he will go into attack mode and bite immediately and ask questions later. Sooo I was walking through the kitchen the other day and got to close to him and he immediately went after my Croc shielded foot. He missed the first time but attacked a second time and this time he succeeded in biting and holding on to the back of my Croc. I jerked my foot away from him and succeeded in drop kicking the metal bar on the back of our huge Chicco stroller. It was literally a square shot on my toe and foot. Note the lovely bruising in the photos below. I held ice on it and thought it was fine until I got up to walk. Can you say OUCH!? By the time my husband got home from work, urgent care was closed. So I went first thing Tuesday morning. They did an x-ray and said I had an avulsion fracture! It should heal in 3-6 weeks, although I am hoping sooner rather than later!:)

Notice the lovely shading of greens in the bruising? They match the background nicely!:)

Annnd in better news.... I also got a hair cut! It has been soooo hot this year and my hair was down to the middle of my back! I have kept it long for over 5 years and just didn't want to put up with a big wad of hair in this heat! Our temps have easily been in the 100s+ lately with the heat index values! So far it has proved to be MUCH cooler without the excess hair!:)

Our Chicken Flock

There is no doubt that I LOVE chickens! What started out as my husband and I getting our kids 6 chickens has turned into a full out LOVE of chickens on my part. I had chickens when I was a kid but not like this. We got a total of 16 new baby chicks this Spring(in April and May) for my "kids"...hehehe...which brings our grand total to 21. We have 21 chicken pets!:) Here is our flock and their names:
5 Golden Comet Hens: Bellina, Mimi, Beaky, Spice and Speckles(my personal favorite!)
3 Silver Laced Wyandotte Hens: Maybelle, June and Clementine
1 Silver Sebright Bantam Rooster: Sunny
1 Mille Fleur d'Uccle rooster: Hazel aka Hazelnut aka Buttercheeks
2 Silkies a Roo and Hen: Bai and Lin
3 Black Australorp Hens: Lilia, Petunia and Celia
3 Barred Rock Hens and One Rooster: Clover, Boppy, Violet and Emery
2 Dark Brahma Hens: Thisbe and Nanette

Here are some pics:
Speckles(who has recovered quite nicely from her dog attack! She has just has a small limp now!) Her former flock mates, the Golden Comets, wouldn't accept her anymore after she got hurt, so she has taken up with the Wyandottes and Sunny the rooster.

The Day of the Lord is at Hand....

THE DAY OF THE LORD IS AT HAND AND WHO WILL BE ABLE TO STAND!

As soon as I opened my eyes this morning this was the first thing that I thought...in fact, this is actually WHAT woke me up this morning. Many verses in the Bible prophecy a time of judgement, some have already happened and some are of future events. I don't generally speak of judgement and woe but my heart is burning within my chest and the urgency is immeasurable. This message is to myself as well. We must turn away from sin and turn to Jesus, give EVERYTHING to Him and not just keep the portions we want. Don't let ANYTHING separate you from Jesus Christ. God doesn't want that any should perish.  A time is coming when judgement is indeed coming.....and it is ever so close, even at the door.

Luke 21:8-32
He replied: “Watch out that you are not deceived. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am he,’ and, ‘The time is near.’ Do not follow them. When you hear of wars and uprisings, do not be frightened. These things must happen first, but the end will not come right away.”
10 Then he said to them: “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. 11 There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven.

12 “But before all this, they will seize you and persecute you. They will hand you over to synagogues and put you in prison, and you will be brought before kings and governors, and all on account of my name. 13 And so you will bear testimony to me. 14 But make up your mind not to worry beforehand how you will defend yourselves. 15 For I will give you words and wisdom that none of your adversaries will be able to resist or contradict. 16 You will be betrayed even by parents, brothers and sisters, relatives and friends, and they will put some of you to death. 17 Everyone will hate you because of me. 18 But not a hair of your head will perish. 19 Stand firm, and you will win life.
20 “When you see Jerusalem being surrounded by armies, you will know that its desolation is near. 21 Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those in the city get out, and let those in the country not enter the city. 22 For this is the time of punishment in fulfillment of all that has been written. 23 How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers! There will be great distress in the land and wrath against this people. 24 They will fall by the sword and will be taken as prisoners to all the nations. Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
25 “There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea. 26 People will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken. 27 At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28 When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.”
29 He told them this parable: “Look at the fig tree and all the trees. 30 When they sprout leaves, you can see for yourselves and know that summer is near.31 Even so, when you see these things happening, you know that the kingdom of God is near.
32 “Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. 33 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.
34 “Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you suddenly like a trap. 35 For it will come on all those who live on the face of the whole earth. 36 Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man.”

Revelation 6:15-17 King James Version (KJV)

15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;
16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:
17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?

If you do NOT know Jesus Christ as your savior, I urge you to give your heart and your life to Him. Sorrow and destruction are coming.....judgement is coming! And in the face of all of this we will be here...YOU will HAVE to choose! At some point, you will no longer have a choice. If you don't know Jesus Christ as your savior, your heart will most certainly fail you. It says in Luke: Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.
We will ALL have to face judgement.  I urge you to choose Jesus Christ NOW....choose Life NOW....so that you may be able to stand through it all....so that you may have a solid foundation to stand on when the world around you has fainted. Please pray this prayer with me:
Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner.
I repent for the sin in my life and in my heart.
I ask that you would forgive me and cleanse my spirit from sin.
I believe that you are the Son of God and that you gave your life on the cross for my sins. I believe that you conquered death and rose from the dead.
I want you Jesus, to be the Lord of my Life and my Soul. I ask that your Holy Spirit would guide me. Thank you so very much for your mercy and love that you have on me. Amen

2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
LORD, PLEASE HELP ME TO STAND FIRM!

After the Storms....

It has been threatening to rain all week and all we have gotten is a sprinkle at most. This evening it FINALLY rained...boy did it ever. We first got a thunderstorm early in the evening and then it started pouring again just before it started to get dark. The sun came out for one last peek and the result was absolutely beautiful!
