I have been working on a new shawl pattern for the last 2 months and finished it up last week!:) Part of the reason that it took sooo long for this one is that I kept changing my mind....A LOT! I finally managed to get everything worked out and then I blocked the shawl a few days ago! With this particular shawl, I wanted a LARGE shawl to stay warm....I get cold fairly easy in air conditioning and of course in winter, and you can often find me wearing a sweater around the house to stay warm....so with the shawl, I wanted something large, in a worsted weight and also pretty and elegant at the same time. I used Malabrigo Rios in the color Fresco y Seco......as soon as I saw this color...my mind immediately thought of Moss and thus I began designing with this in mind. I LOVE LOVE LOVE moss....there has always been this thing with moss when as a kid...it just looked bouncy.....like you could lightly jump up and down on it......it makes me happy so I usually just lightly tiptoe across it....I know that sounds funny, right? It's like if I SEE the moss, then I MUST tiptoe across it!:) I ended up changing a few things from where I initially started and the lace section is a variation based on the beautiful Old Shale knitting stitch pattern! I was so pleased to finally get done and here is the shawl in it's completeness! I am pleased to introduce you to Moss On the Old Oak! It is available right now at an introductory offer of $3.00 until July 22, 2016 at 11:59 pm EST......BUT for all that work of reading the blog, you can get it for $2.00 with code sweetbirchblog ENJOY!
The pattern starts out with a seed stitch tab instead of a garter tab but the technique is similar! It also features written instructions, lace that is written and charted out and stitch counts after every row repeat.
This is the reverse or wrong side of the shawl pattern and I think it is just as lovely as the front!:)
